As Targia at the "Tuareg-Day" in the Museum of Natural Sciences in Braunschweig, 7th January, 2007

As Targia (Tuareg-woman) - Woman wear their head cloth like that way. Their have a strong social level and own the tent. The women care for the goasts - like the men for the camels. The Tuareg society is more matrilineal.	On this Tuareg-day we got a lot of information on these desert people and their way of life. We learned their writing and finally dressed like Targi. - Here: two young Targi (Tuareg-men) and me - The Tuareg-man gets his Tagelmust (head cloth) as adolescence, only to put it off when staying together with his wife or relatives or very close friends.

Did you know that the Tuareg eat very seldom meat? The eat millet gruel in the morning, if not, the strongly miss something very important! - The animals are very important, because they get milk form the animals. The Tuareg are saying that the water is life, but milk is norishment. Only at big festivities the Tuareg will eat a goat. A woman must not be a virgin at marriage, but if a girl is pregnant, she has to get married. A man cannot refuse to marry the woman with whom he will have the baby. Divorce is possible too. Men and woman have equal rights, they care for certain things.
