First
journey to Egypt (1999): Hurghada and a lot of excursions
![]()
Bianca and Simon travelled in July/August 1999 per Last Minute
offer to Egypt and planned to stay one week with only bathing,
swimming, relaxing in Hurghada... a typical tourism resort at the
Red Sea Side. However, it went "different" ... Please
read our travel-diary!
Second
journey to Egypt (2001): Nile-Cruise
![]()
In October 2001 Simon and Bianca travelled once more to Egypt,
this time in company of are girl-friend of Bianca and her
husband. We lived in a cruise-ship for one week and did a lot of
excursions on the land, for example to the desert, to Abu Simbel,
to the temples of Luxor, Karnak, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae, to the
Valley of the Kings and a lot more. Of course, there was also
some camel-riding - all under the banner of "The
Mummy"! ;)
Third
journey to Egypt (2005): Nile-Cruise
![]()
In October 2005 my mother Irene and I went on a Nile Cruise. I
will place the diary of that tour very soon in English on my
page. Give me a few days or monthes! :))
Fourth
journey to Egypt (2006): Cairo
![]()
In August 2006 my mother Irene and I travelled to Cairo, to stay
there for a week and to visit, of course, a lot of pyramids,
temples, ancient places, and the Egyptian Museum.
Fifth
journey to Egypt (2007): Lake Nasser- and Nile-Cruise, El Gouna
![]()
In August 2007 my mother and me went on a very special Egypt
tour: first we went by boat on the Lake Nasser: sailing from Abu
Simbel to Aswan. There we changed the boat, going with the bigger
boat to Luxor, from where we took a bus throught the Western
desert to El Gouna, a sun paradise lying on the shore of the Red
Sea. I will place a dairy soon!!
Sixth
journey to Egypt (2008): Nile-Cruise
![]()
In January/February 2008 my mother Irene and I went on another
Nile Cruise - visiting other temples and places than on our
earlier voyages. So we have seen the tomb sof the Nobles in Aswan
as well as the monstery of Simeon, the quarry on the West Side,
the Nubian Museum and a beautiful Sound-and-Light-Show in Philae.
In Luxor we saw Medinet Habu and the Ramasseum, the tombs of the
Nobles and Deir el Medina. We went to Abydos. - Also we visited
some temples we visited the years before: in Edfu, in Kom Ombo
and Dendera.
My
Egyptian Room

In July, my friend Simon and I have painted the walls in my
music-room at home with Egyptian hyroglyphs and pictures. Here
you can find fotos on that room. *Accidentally*, I have chosen
motives from the tomb of Sethos I.

Unfortunately I couldn't visit these tombs on my own, because
they were closed for tourists. Here you can read some information
about these tombs.

Map

For a better orientation please have a look on this map of Egypt,
because it is not just like in the Mummy-films, that the pyramids
and the temples of Thebes are together at one place. Actually,
the pyramids are nearby the city of Kairo and not the city of
Luxor...
